Tom was born and brought up in Devon, and although with a farming background decided that the world of buildings and property were of significantly more interest than animal husbandry and crops. After a stint with a local estate agent in his gap year, it was off to Reading University to complete his honours degree in Estate Management. His first appointment was in Plymouth working in general practice and management of a couple of large old established estates in Cornwall and South Devon. Other areas of practice over the years included the Taunton and Bridgwater areas in Somerset, Torquay, North Devon and mid and east Cornwall. He has been based now at Exeter since 1996 and covers the whole of the south west with both residential and commercial property. He lives with his wife, a keen aviator and cytologist, in a small village close to the Blackdown Hills.
Sue started working for Bradleys Surveyors in 1997 as an Administrator/ Secretary and soon found that she wanted to progress her career and become a Chartered Surveyor. Whilst working, buying and moving homes three times, getting married and having three children Sue completed both a Diploma in Surveying Practice and a Degree in Estate Management which resulted in a First Class Honours Degree.
In 2012 (after taking the RICS Assessment of Professional Competency) she became a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and now carries out Mortgage Valuations, RICS Homebuyer Reports, Inheritance Tax Valuations and Commercial Valuations. She works from our Southernhay office in Exeter with her colleague Tom Davies.
Sue lives in a small village outside of Crediton and enjoys running, gardening, DIY and reading.
Ken Stoate is a Chartered Surveyor who lives and works in the North Devon area. He moved to this area in 1984 from Bristol while working at that time for the District Valuers Office carrying out a variety of valuation and survey work. He later moved to private practice and has worked for Bradleys Surveyors since it was established in 1996. He specialises in Homebuyer Reports and valuations. In his spare time he is usually found on the tennis court.
Areas Covered – Barnstaple, Bideford, Braunton, Ilfracombe, Torrington, Okehampton, South Molton and Bude.
Alan has lived in Cornwall for most of his life having moved down from Cheshire in 1976. He worked for a small firm of general practice surveyors in Truro initially as an estate agent but by gaining experience in all aspects of professional work then qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1989. He was then employed as a staff valuer for a reasonable building society and was relocated to south east Cornwall mainly to cover east Cornwall and west Devon also including Plymouth. He has since worked for two major corporate surveying companies before joining Bradley surveyors in 2013 and working in the Plymouth office.
His field of expertise mainly concentrates on carrying out RICS HomeBuyer reports as well as valuations for a range of purposes including lender mortgage valuations, family settlements and probates.
Alan is married with two sons, who have both flown the nest and has one granddaughter. His out of hours interests are largely taken up by his membership of the Dartmoor search and rescue team Plymouth, being an active call out member for over twenty years. He has trained his pet Labrador to search for missing persons and they are full call out members with the search and rescue Dog Association of England and are called out regularly by the Police.
Keith works at our Torquay Office covering the Torbay, Teignbridge and South Hams area. Keith who qualified in 1982 is both a building surveyor and valuer. He has practiced in the South Devon area for the last 32 years. Keith is married with three children, who are all grown up now. He is an ex Paignton Rugby Club Captain and is now a member of Beltane Border Morris. The two interests have more in common than you would think.
His field of expertise include Building Surveys, RICS Homebuyer Reports and valuations.
Keith is assisted by Administrative Assistant Gail Magill, who has worked with Bradleys since 2000, started the same time as Keith and has two teenagers, two dogs and three cats and enjoys seeing local bands.
Our Torquay office also has a part time secretary Val Huteson who has two grown up children and four grandchildren and has been working with us since last year and enjoys going to the local theatre, when she gets time.
Phil completed a Masters in Land Economy (MLE) as a mature student at the University of Aberdeen and qualified as a Rural Surveyor. He has worked for Stratton and Holborrow, Smiths Gore and Savills mainly in Estate Management. Phil is an RICS Registered Valuer and does valuations of land and (rural) property and RICS HomeBuyer Reports. He lives on a smallholding near Crediton with his wife, two teenage daughters, two dogs, a turkey and a gander. He sometimes keeps pigs for the pot and is interested in cooking and wine. In the winter he is out shooting and in the summer he fishes and watches or occasionally plays cricket.
Charlie is a Chartered Surveyor who lives and works in North Devon, originally from Scotland. Having completed a BSc (Hons) at Glasgow Caledonian University in building surveying, prior to qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor, Charlie is experienced in valuing and surveying a wide range of properties. His daily work consists of residential valuations, RICS Homebuyer Reports and Residential Building Surveys.
Away from work Charlie is a keen rock climber and big rugby fan, enjoys running, walking and all things outdoors.
